President Obama plans to pick a Republican to run the FBI
. The good news is that it’s a Republican that Republicans will hate. James B. Comey is the one who foiled the plot to trick a hospitalized and sedated Attorney General John Ashcroft into reauthorizing an unconstitutional warrantless wiretapping program. Back in the George Bush era, “scandals” were really scandals. So James Comey did at least one thing right on one occasion. If you’re looking for a Republican for a post, that’s about as good as you’re going to do.
Bill O’Reilly is out with a Talking Points Memo about hate speech. Of course if Bill gave his honest opinion of hate speech it would be to say that it’s making him a fortune. O’Reilly used me as an example of hate speech
! Let me tell you, Bill—if I’m you’re go-to person for a clip of hate speech, you haven’t listened to anybody’s show in years, including your own show!
The clip is of me calmly saying “There’s only so many stupid people out there, Republicans. Admittedly, they breed kind of fast because they’re too dumb....” Is that the most extreme example of so-called liberal hate speech that they could come up with? This O’Reilly Talking Points Memo isn’t about hate speech—it’s about mild sarcasm! In the full clip I say
“they breed kind of fast ‘cause they’re too dumb to figure out how to use the condom—even if they believed in using them in the first place.” When you hear the whole clip, you realize why they cut it where they did—they cut off the point I was making, and the joke!
Then right after my clip comes a clip of Alex Jones
yelling like he just sat on a cactus! In the clip Alex Jones is red-faced and screaming non-stop about “psychotic killers”—right after a clip of me saying that Republicans are dumb. It actually looks like they’re using Alex Jones to help make my point.
I love that Bill O’Reilly is lecturing America about hate speech. Bill, save us the lectures. You’ve already given us hundreds of examples of hate speech
over the years. If I want to learn about the dangers of hate speech, I’m not going to listen to Bill O’Reilly pontificate—I’m going to listen to Bill O’Reilly spew hate speech.
