The right wing is trying to push us into another war, this time with Syria. After the Iraq disaster, we’ve learned to dig our feet in, so they have to push really hard. The rightwing media noise machine says that Obama “boxed himself in” with his statement about crossing a red line in Syria. And they’re right there to jump onto the lid of that box and start trying to nail it down. For the record, Obama has said that the use of chemical weapons by Syria “crosses a line that will change my calculus and how the United States approaches these issues.” No wonder the rightwing doesn’t get it—they can’t understand calculus. Diplomatic language is very nuanced. I’m pretty sure that “change my calculus” is not the same thing as “I’ll bomb you back into the Stone Age.”
Investigators are looking at the wife of the dead Boston Marathon suspect. That’s probably a good idea. After seeing Mom, it’s obvious the Tsarnaevs did not have a lot of good female role models. Investigators have found female DNA on a piece of one of the pressure cookers used in the bombing. Did the wife help in the bombing? Or did he steal his wife’s kitchenware to pull off the attack? When you think about it, finding female DNA on cookware isn’t all that groundbreaking. It’s actually kind of old school in a 1950’s “Father Knows Best” kind of way.

According to Ron Paul, the worst thing about the bombing in Boston was catching the bombers. Paul said “The Boston bombing provided the opportunity for the government to turn what should have been a police investigation into a military-style occupation of an American city.” I don’t believe a lot of residents were thinking “I wish these cops would all just leave.” In Ron Paul’s twisted mind, the people in Watertown, MA just wanted the cops to go away so they could comb the neighborhood with their own assault rifles.

Paul compared the search for the bombers in suburban Watertown to a “military coup in a far off banana republic.” Yeah, a military coup where the residents come out and cheer the occupying forces. Ron, don’t you remember the scenes of the residents of Watertown spontaneously pouring out into the streets to cheer the cops? Were they doing that under duress? I guess if Ron Paul was there that night he would have been booing the cops.

Meanwhile, Glenn Beck is comparing the hunt for the Boston bombers to the Nazis. But then Glenn Beck compares everything to the Nazis eventually. Beck was talking about a picture supposedly showing a cop in a Humvee during the hunt for Dzhokar Tsarnaev, aiming his rifle up at the person taking the picture. I guess in Glenn Beck’s world, the person should be aiming a gun back at the cop, not aiming a camera.
Listen to The Randi Rhodes Show weekdays 6 PM to 8 PM on WWRL AM 1600.

When it comes to the conspiracy nuts at Alex Jones’s website Infowars, the people of Boston have had a bellyful. And now one Bostonian has given them an earful. WARNING: contains adult language that may not be safe for work...
