The workplace has just become more hostile, at least if you’re a smoker in the United States. While in the past few years employers have tried to coaxe smokers to quit by using incentives, they’ve now turned to more drastic measures: Hiring Bans. Smoking Hiring Bans are already present in 21 states and it’s picking up momentum, including the addition of Nicotine screening to employment drug tests. Proponents say that the less harsh methods clearly haven’t worked and there is a definite need for more extreme methods, thus nicotine screenings and hiring bans.
